Modernization
Modernization
Eden's Modernization category changes infrastructure underneath an application without requiring a blind cutover or an immediate rewrite.
Live Migrations plans and operates movement, capture, replay, validation, cutover, and recovery. Gateway supplies source and target endpoints, interlays, mirroring, comparison, and traffic control.
Migration lifecycle
- Connect and inventory the source and target.
- Define schema, object, field, and request mappings when systems differ.
- Move historical data.
- Capture and replay live writes.
- Mirror representative traffic and compare outcomes.
- Run validation and readiness checks.
- Approve and execute cutover.
- Monitor the new authoritative system and retain rollback controls.
Capabilities
| Capability | What it covers | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Live Migrations | Move production systems without downtime while live writes continue. | Migration Lifecycle |
| Modernization | Update or upgrade engines, providers, schemas, object models, applications, or deployment models. | Heterogeneous Planning |
| Capture & replay | Separate historical data movement from ordered live-write replay. | Migration API Stage Map |
| Mirroring & comparison | Send representative traffic to old and new systems before authority changes. | Traffic Mirroring |
| Live Testing | Exercise targets with controlled live traffic while the source remains authoritative. | Validation Runs And Observability |
| Snapshots & recovery | Capture, restore, back up, and prove recovery readiness. | Operating Live Migrations |
See Live Migrations Overview for the implementation model, Endpoint Coverage for supported source and target systems, and the Redis Migration Walkthrough for an end-to-end example.
Recovery
Modernization includes snapshots, backups, restore readiness, cutover rollback, and post-migration evidence. Keep the source available until validation, business approval, and the rollback window are complete.
